Salin หรือ สลิล ชีวพันธุศรี มือกลอง โปรดิวเซอร์ และนักแต่งเพลงที่เกิดและเติบโตในไทย แต่ย้ายไปอเมริกาเหนือตอนอายุ 20 เพื่อไล่ตามความฝัน ปัจจุบันเธอได้โลดเล่นในแวดวงแจ๊สของแคนาดา และได้ปรากฎตัวในสื่อต่างๆ รวมถึง KEXP รายการการแสดงดนตรีสดชื่อดังในช่องทางออนไลน์ที่เธอใส่ชุดไทยร่วมบรรเลงอยู่หลังกลองชุด ทั้งยังได้มาแสดงที่ Bangkok Design Week 2025 ที่ผ่านมาให้ชาวไทยได้ประจักษ์ฝีมือไม่ธรรมดาของเธอเป็นครั้งแรกมาแล้ว
จากนักดนตรีมือสมัครเล่นที่เริ่มโพสต์ผลงานทาง YouTube จนได้รับการติดต่อให้มาเป็นมือกลองแบ็กอัพให้กับวงกรันจ์ไทยขึ้นหิ้งอย่างอรอรีย์ สองปีนี้สลิลได้คลุกคลีกับดนตรีหลากหลายแนวที่รวมถึงร็อก และเมทัล ก่อนจะเลือกไปเรียนต่อที่อเมริกาและได้รู้จักกับดนตรีแนวอื่นๆ มากขึ้น เธอเริ่มตามความฝันจากการเป็นนักดนตรีเปิดหมวก และสมัครเพื่อไปเล่น Jam Session ตามร้านและบาร์ต่างๆ ก่อนที่ฝีมือจะไปเข้าตา Dominique Fils-Aimé ศิลปินแจ๊สจากแคนาดาและให้เธอไปร่วมวง วินาทีนั้นเองที่เธอตัดสินใจย้ายไปมอนทรีอัลและทำงานด้านดนตรีเต็มตัว สำหรับอัลบั้มนั้นที่เธอได้ไปมีส่วนร่วมการบันทึกและแสดงสดก็ได้รับรางวัล Juno Awards 2019 สาขาอัลบั้มขับร้องแจ๊สยอดเยี่ยมแห่งปี ก่อนที่ตัวเธอเองจะได้ปล่อยอัลบั้มชุดแรกในชีวิต ‘Cosmic Island’ ในสองปีต่อมา ซึ่งงานชุดนี้มีส่วนผสมของแจ๊ส โซล ฟังก์ กรูฟ โดยได้แรงบันดาลใจมาจากการทำวิทยานิพนธ์เรื่องมลพิษในแม่น้ำของประเทศไทย
ช่วงนั้นเองหลังจากที่ผลงานปล่อยออกมาสู่สายตาชาวโลก สลิลก็ได้ทัวร์ไปทั่วอเมริกาและยุโรป ก่อนที่ในปีนี้เธอจะปล่อยอัลบั้มใหม่ Rammana ที่ผสมผสานซาวด์แอโฟรแจ๊ส ฟังก์ และเพลงไทยพื้นบ้าน โดยชูเรื่องอัตลักษณ์ จิตวิญญาณ และความเป็นมนุษย์ผสานสีสันความสนุกในแบบของเธอ ทั้งยังได้รับเลือกให้เป็น 1 ใน 6 ศิลปิน Revelation Canada ปี 2025 ของสถานีโทรทัศน์ CBC อีกด้วย
Salin, or Salin Cheewapansri, is a drummer, producer, and songwriter who was born and raised in Thailand, but moved to North America at age 20 to follow a dream. She’s now part of Canada’s jazz scene, and has appeared across international media, including a standout performance on the acclaimed live platform KEXP, where she played behind the drum kit wearing traditional Thai attire. In early 2025, she returned to Thai stages for the first time with a performance at Bangkok Design Week, making a lasting impression on home audiences.
Salin’s journey began as a self-taught drummer uploading clips to YouTube—one of which led her to a spot backing the legendary Thai grunge band, Onaree. Over the next few years, she moved through scenes shaped by rock, metal, and eventually jazz. She moved to the U.S. for school, where she started out busking and playing jam sessions in bars—until her playing caught the attention of Canadian jazz artist, Dominique Fils-Aimé, who invited her to join her band. That moment led to a full relocation to Montreal, and a professional life in music.
Her work on Dominique’s album went on to win the Juno Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year (2019), and soon after, Salin released her own debut album Cosmic Island—a blend of jazz, soul, funk, and groove, inspired by her thesis research on river pollution in Thailand.
Following the album’s release, Salin toured across the U.S. and Europe, and in 2025 returned with a new project: Rammana—a collection that brings together Afro-jazz, funk, and Thai folk music, woven through themes of identity, spirit, and joy. The album earned her a spot as one of CBC’s 2025 Revelation Artists, placing her among the rising voices of Canadian music.
